Challenges

• Integration of Advanced Environmental Systems: The building required seamless integration of numerous environmental technologies, including solar panels, water recycling, and green roofing. Balancing these systems without disrupting the commercial and public utility of the space demanded multidisciplinary coordination.
• Structural Engineering for Living Roofs: The installation of vegetated roofing systems added significant weight to the structure. Special load-bearing calculations and reinforcements were necessary to ensure safety and durability without compromising design intent.
• Rainwater Collection in a Constrained Urban Site: Designing a functional rainwater harvesting system within the tight constraints of Turin’s urban landscape required creative spatial planning and underground integration of storage tanks and filtration mechanisms.
